There are often issues with the state that some limousine passengers leave the limousines in after their big night out, but there is also an issue for the limo hire operators of how to ensure their chauffeurs clean up after each passenger correctly and ensure they don’t create their own mess.

When the passengers are charged an extra fee if they leave the limousine in need of a professional clean, part orf that fee goes to the chauffeur who has the unfortunate job of cleaning up. Therefore the chauffeur has no excuse not to do a good cleaning job of their limousine, especially since many passengers will leave an extra tip if they feel guilty enough about the mess they have made.

Other limo hire companies will assign one chauffeur to one car and they are responsible for keeping that car clean the entire time they drive it. Then their boss inspects the car regularly – once a week – to check its condition. This gives the drivers a sense of ownership and they feel more inclined to clean a car which is ‘theirs’.

However, it is especially hard for limo hire operators to control the level of care their chauffeurs put into their limousines if the chauffeurs are on a wage. They have done their work and they just want to go home and not spend an extra two hours cleaning up after their passengers.

Limo hire companies which pay their chauffeurs per hour or per job have the option of reducing the hours and work of the chauffeur who does not do their job correctly and reward those who clean their limousines well, with extra hours and pay.

There is also an issue because one person’s idea of clean is not always the same as another person’s and so there is either strict guidelines for the chauffeurs to follow when cleaning or the limo hire company simply has to replace the chauffeurs with people who take pride in their work and in turn their limousines.
